• Recognize that every behavior is a choice
• Identify personal driving behaviors and tendencies
• Identify the potential consequences of unsafe driving behaviors
• Identify behaviors that can be controlled and factors beyond a diver’s control
• Define Defensive Driving
• Define “preventable collision” and explain the characteristics of a preventable collision

• Identify the risks associated with driving without seat belts or proper restraints
• Identify and describe the safe and responsible use of built-in vehicle safety mechanisms, including automated technology features
• Recognize that we share our roads with other drivers and identify our responsibilities when driving

• Identify risky driving behaviors that statistically lead to the most collisions and fatalities on U.S. roads, including: Speeding, Following too closely, Distracted driving, Turning improperly, Driving left of center, Violating right of way, Aggressive driving and road rage, Impaired driving, Drowsy driving.
• Choose appropriate driving behaviors based on different driving situations and conditions
• List the ten habits of defensive driving
• Evaluate current driving choices and behaviors and identify alternative driving choices
• Create a personal plan to make effective driving choices
